I have the honour to refer to my
confidential despatch of 6th September, 1938, forwarding copies of the report of the Committee appointed to consider anomalies arising out of the
recent introduction of the new salary scales, and
to inform you that I have received an intimation
that the Executive Engineers and Engineers of the
Public Works Department propose to submit a petition
to you on the recommendations of the report affecting
them. I have accordingly been asked that you may be
requested to defer decision on these recommendations
pending receipt of this petition. I understand
that it will be submitted within the next week or
two, and it will be transmitted to you as soon
thereafter as it has been possible to examine it.
